Do you know anybody who can read Dutch? When we arrived back from London yesterday we found this burst balloon in our garden.I cant read Dutch but, from what i can make out,it was released by 11 year old Sabrina Koopman, from The Anne Frank School in (?) Apeldoorn near the German border in Holland.
It was released on April 17th /Friday?Which is a good lick to get right across the North Sea & halfway across England to where i live.
The card was dry!!!!!No protective sleeve to shelter it from the Storm!
it has something to do with events in Apeldoorn on 17th April 1945......to do with the liberation of Holland from the Fascists?
Looking at a map of Holland i see that this has personal significance for Me.In 1944 my Dad was a Polish Airman in The Battle Of Arnhem. Apeldoorn is not far from Arnhem.I read that events on 17th April 1945 are often refered to as "The Second Battle Of Arnhem".
Anyway.Today we post back the card. However, i would love to contact the Organisers via email........Maybe little Sabrina has won some sort of Prize for the longest distance travelled?I would like to think so............
